VSbulletin – Coronavirus U.S. Travel Restrictions UPDATE 1


Due to the ongoing situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19), the US Government’s decision to restrict entry into the United States, for foreign visitors who have travelled to China (People’s Rep) in the last 14 days.

 

Customers who are due to travel to the United States and have been to China (People’s Rep) in the past 14 days will not be allowed to travel.

 

There are some passengers who will be exempt from these new travel restrictions.

 

  • Those assisting CDC
  • Government officials
  • Spouse of U.S. citizen, legal guardian of U.S. citizen, child, foster child or ward of U.S. citizen
  • Any alien on a C1D visa as a crew member or any alien otherwise travelling to the U.S. as air crew
  • Certain law enforcement officers

 

Customers who have travelled to China (People’s Rep) within 14 days of planned travel to the United States but are on the exemption list will be allowed to travel to the United states providing they enter via one of the selected airports which are Atlanta (ATL), Los Angeles (LAX), New York JFK (JFK), Newark (EWR), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA) and Washington Dulles (IAD), as well as Hawaii (HNL), Chicago (ORD), Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and Detroit (DTW).

We are offering customers travelling to or through the below destinations between 2 February 2020 and 30 April 2020 options to refund or to rebook to a later date or re-route to a designated airport.

All Virgin Atlantic and codeshare flights to/ through the U.S.A and customers who have been in China (People’s Rep) in the 14 days prior to planned initial entry into the U.S.A.

 

31 May 2020

 

Valid for customers with VS and VS* tickets issued by 2 February 2020.

 

Customers who are on the exemptions list and travelling to a designated airport Atlanta (ATL), Los Angeles (LAX), New York JFK (JFK), Newark (EWR), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA) and Washington Dulles (IAD), as well as Hawaii (HNL), Chicago (ORD), Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and Detroit (DTW) travel will continue as planned and will be screened at the airport on arrival.

 

Customers who are on the exemptions list and not travelling to a designated airport

 

or

 

customers who are not on the exemptions list

 

may request a refund:

Customers who are on the exemptions list and not travelling to a designated airport

 

may reroute to a designated airport:

 

Reroute policy

 

1) Reroute for travel up to 31 May 2020

 

  • Rebook travel in the same booking class, or, if original booking class is not available, applicable fare difference will be collected.  No change fee will be charged provided new travel dates are within permitted travel period.

 

  • Where the itinerary includes onward connection on other airlines, rebook travel in the same booking class, or, if original booking class is not available, applicable fare difference will be collected.  No change fee will be charged provided new travel dates are within permitted travel period.

 

  • Update the SI field with the following information:

 

 SI FOC DATE CHANGE DUE TO CORONAVIRUS US RESTRICTION

 

  • Please reissue tickets to include “FOC DATE CHANGE DUE TO CORONAVIRUS US RESTRICTION”.

Tickets must be re-issued and rebooked on/before revised travel date.

 

In terms of the US designated airports as listed, Virgin Atlantic has direct flying operations to Atlanta (ATL), Los Angeles (LAX), New York JFK (JFK), Newark (EWR), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA) and Washington Dulles (IAD).
